Plastic Toxic: You know what they are?.

Plastics are everywhere and in most cases are very cheap and convenient. , however, each time more scientists, are discovering that there is a high price because it affects our health. Some common plastics release harmful chemicals into the air, food and drinks. These substances are invisible, but yes you use plastic in your food, you have high chances that you’re consuming part of these harmful chemicals with your meals.

Maintaining a diet even a non-toxic life, without toxic elements is still a difficult task today, either by fertilizers and pesticides used on our crops, such as utensils in which we cook our food, packaging metal, including toxic plastics.  But at least it is our duty as individual and as a parents try as far as possible to keep our family and  children away from toxic environment

The danger of these contaminants is bio accumulation, and the progressive exposure is increasingly poisoning us.

gPET (  Polyethylene Terephthalate ): AVOID
commonly found in: soda bottles, water bottles, cooking oil bottles
Risks :  This may release anti mony and phthalates.

untnnitledHDPE: (High Density Polyethylene): THE SAFEST
commonly found in: milk jugs, plastic bags, containers of yogurt.

untnniwtledPVC (Polyvinyl Chloride, Vinyl): AVOID
commonly found in: bottles condiments, transparent film, teethers, toys, shower curtains
RISKS :  They produce lead and phthalates, among other things. They can also emit toxic gases chemicals.

untenniwtledLDPE: (Low Density Polyethylene): THE SAFEST
commonly found in: bags offered by supermarkets to grab fruits and vegetables and food containers

untennsdiwtledPP (Polypropylene): THE SAFEST
commonly found in : gallons caps, plastic food storage, plastic tableware

untennszadiwtled PS (Polystyrene, also known as Styrofoam): AVOID
commonly found in : meat trays, foam utensils like disposable cups and plates used at parties.
RISK : May release carcinogenic and estrogenic alkyd phenol.

unztennszadiwtled Other: These plastics can be a safer option because they can be very durable and resistant to high temperatures causing less leaching. New biodegradable plastic based plants, such as PLA (polylactic acid) also fall into the category No. number 2.

In conclusion, the only safe plastics for storing food, water and other liquids are:

uxntitledHDPE: High Density Polyethylene (in English known as HDPE or PE-HD ) identified by the  number 2.

uxntitddledLDPE: Low Density Polyethylene (known as LDPE or PE-LD ) identified by the number 4.

uxntsitddledPolypropylene ( PP ) identified by the number 5 .

Where are these numbers?

At the bottom of the container usually appears indicating the type of plastic inside a triangle, for example, a 2 for HDPE.  These symbols are found in all the plastic bottles. Each number indicates the type of material from which are made.

The Danger of Bisphenol A (BPA)

Bis-phenol A is part of poly carbonate hard plastic white or transparent employed in the manufacture of packaging for food and beverages (plastic containers of  juices , milk and water), the inner coating of food containers (containers for microwave , Tupperware, cans with plastic inside …), dishes, cookware and even bottles for babies. The European Union has authorized to bisphenol A (BPA) as a substance that may be in contact with food.

BPA causes hormonal or endocrine disruption, since its chemical composition mimics the behavior of human hormones. In the case of BPA, this compound behaves as estrogen. Exposure to this compound may cause a problem call aneuploidy cell division in which chromosomes homogeneously no dividing during cell division, resulting in cells containing more or less than normal chromosomes. This unequal distribution of genetic material can cause cancer, abortions and birth defects, including Down syndrome.

Conducted studies show that low levels of bisphenol A, well below the limit established by law, affect the development of prostate and induce tumors in the prostate, affecting the development of breast tissue.

The danger of the water contaminated with BPA came to light for the first time in 1998 during an investigation at Case Western Reserve University. During the study about aneuploidy in mouse, the scientists detected an unexplained increase of 8 times in this pathology. Finally they discovered that a lab worker had washed their water bottles with a particularly aggressive detergent, which had released large amounts of bisphenol A. in water. The researchers found that levels of bisphenol A. to which exposed the mouse were similar to the levels experienced in normal conditions, and that chromosomes of cells affected by the BPA appeared to have been shot with a gun. To verify these unexpected conclusions scientists doubled the accident with detergent and obtained the same results. To verify that BPA was the responsible of genetic damage, they gave the mouses a daily ration of pure BPA and found that the results of this intentional exposure were similar.

What are the consequences of USING NO SAFE plastic in humanity; Obesity, decreased fertility rates, cancer and many other problems;   if you are looking to adopt a healthier natural lifestyle, it is time to take action and avoid toxic plastic in your life as much as possible.

  • Store food in glass containers  or use safe plastic boxes such as HDPE. LDPE and PP.
  • Avoid processed foods (which are stored in bags and containers that contain harmful chemicals).
  • Do not use plastic bags.
  • Do not drink water in a plastic bottle.
  • Do not use plastic box in the microwave that is not BPA free,
  • Avoid using food plastic containers or plastic bottle are not identified with number on the packaging and are no BPA free.
  • Look for Safer alternatives BPA free toys plastic babies.

Replace the old plastic food containers for BPA free and FDA APPROVED periodical
